  David Jackson

David Jackson believes that people want their produce to have that fresh, backyard taste. Which is why his backyard covers over 70 acres.

David Jackson didn't come into farming in the usual way. Growing up just outside of Boston, he had limited exposure to farm life. But, after earning his college degree, he went to work on an organic farm and adopted the growing philosophy that he still uses today.

Enterprise Farm started with 1.5 acres of land in 1983. Today, virtually every vegetable from asparagus to zucchini grows across 70 acres. David maintains strictly organic growing conditions, refusing to use pesticides or chemicals that are harmful to the environment. As a result, his produce is in demand by grocery stores and restaurants all over New England.

At Red Tomato, we bring you David's red and green leaf lettuce, as well as his other vegetables, as soon after they're picked as possible. That's the advantage of working exclusively with local, family farms. Even those farms with a family of one.

As David tells us, "You've got to work hard. More guys make it in the N.B.A. than in farming."
